On Wednesday 17th<\/sup> July, 2024, about 50 mentees from Embakasi Girls Secondary School located within the informal settlement of Mukuru kwa Njenga visited Isuzu East Africa accompanied by 3 teachers. The educational visit was a supplement to the crucial topic of visioning and career planning which was recently facilitated by Isuzu women mentors as a part of Isuzu EA\u2019s \u201cInspire Her\u201d program run by about 20 committed Isuzu women volunteers. This is the 4th<\/sup> cohort since the program began in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandra Njagi, the Exports Sales Manager and event emcee for the day, welcomed the students, the teachers and all the mentors who were present. One of the girls led with a word of prayer to kick off the event. Valarie Omino, the Distribution Coordinator P&A Parts and Sales, gave a well detailed explanation and presentation on the history, structural organization, and products of Isuzu East Africa.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racheal Ruggu, the Procurement Manager, followed up with a career talk on STEM education for girls and women. She shared the story of her journey to becoming an engineer and advised the girls on the different career paths under STEM. Lorna Muthoni, the HR Manager, Employee Development, then followed with a presentation on what employers are looking for. Rita Kavashe, Chair of the Board and Managing Director, had an interactive session with the girls where she asked several girls what careers they would love to pursue and what help they need to achieve those dreams. The mentees and their teachers were later taken for a tour of the Plant for them to have a better understanding of the assembly processes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of this year, over 200 girls will graduate from the program having benefited from leadership, academic and life skills imparted by the Isuzu women mentors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
